Would you like to host a Party with a Purpose?

In addition to changing locations and brainstorming PWAP topics, we would like CRUSH members to host monthly Parties with Purposes! Help introduce speakers and facilitate the discussion. Volunteer to help facilitate a PWAP here or ask questions about what this role would entail.

I have an idea for the next PWAP,  La Noche de San Juan will take place next month. Perhaps local hispanic leaders would like to speak about their culture and hertitage.  I know it is a light hearted idea,

Please join us on February 23rd from 7-9 pm at El Mercado, 401 Main Street in Holyoke, for the next CRUSH Party with a Purpose. This party will be all about health and wellness in Holyoke, specifically highlighting many projects that the Holyoke Food and Fitness Policy Council and partners are involved with.

Hi Jason,

I don't think we've done nutrition, and access to healthy food. We need an index of past PWAPs to easily check.

Hello all,

I was wondering, since I have not been around for all three years, if PWAP and CRUSH has ever done anything with Access to Good Foods and Nutrition Ideas in Holyoke.

I know a guy who works for Eat Smart Springfield (I think its called). Previously he was part of the UN and worked in some capacity in Greece. I think he would be interested. Young hip guy with a lot of energy. He is interested in food desert ideas/solutions and entrepreneurial pushes in urban environments. I think he could really give some ideas about the impacts of this problem on certain segments of the community.. Anyways.

I hope everyone will weigh in as to whether this is a good PWAP idea and if so I will get in touch with him..

Hi all, I was looking at my calendar & thinking ahead to election season & thinking about how much work tends to fall on a few organizers (and sorry to contribute to that, but I probably won't be able to be much of an active participant in this group -- I just had to join in order to comment)...anyway, I haven't heard if CRUSH plans to hold another mayoral candidate debate (I hope so!), so I thought I'd float the idea that the August PWAP could be a candidates debate at the Health Center again. It would be non-alcoholic, but there were some good noshes & beverages last time, and people hung around socializing afterwards from what I can recall. Maybe it would be better to have later (after Labor Day?), but I guess I was thinking in terms of killing two birds to conserve organizers' energies. The August PWAP will be nine days before the Block Party, but the September one would be to late for the prelimary election. What are people's thoughts?

Well I don't have her email, please forward it to me, meanwhile I'll message her on CRUSH.

Hi Everyone, good meeting tonight. Several people have suggested Rebecca Lisi as an alternate since Myrna is unavailable I'll email her now to  see if she is free for the June party.

Well, I am not going to weigh in on which place is "better" for the topic of gentrification. To me, they both work for different reasons. At any rate, I originally did ask David about July and he said yes...only today did I speak with him directly about June. The option is open for July or another month; I'll let the group discuss that tonight and decide whether someone wants to approach him for July.(Or maybe you all aren't discussing July tonight? Not sure.)

Sure, sign me up for the Google group. As stated before, I'd love to see that info (Google group email sign up or just the idea that there is one) posted somewhere sticky on this group so that others can know of internal communication methods.

Mike got Salsarengue to host for June, which seems to work better for a topic on gentrification. Is David okay with hosting another month?
