Inspector General Letter 2007

For those who are doing the research to determine who you should vote for please read the letter from the Inspector Generals Office. It outlines in detail the ongoing issues in the office some dating back as far as 2000.

The Treasurer is ultimately responsible for the quality of work coming out of the office. How much longer can we allow this pattern of continued mismanagement to go on. Why is it that while the City operates in a Fiscal Year 2010 budget we have yet to close the books on Fiscal Year 2008. Should we really be two years behind on auditing the books when the same issues are pointed out year after year as needing to be corrected? What is being hidden or covered up? Hopefully nothing but until the accounts are audited how do we as tax payers know this.

HOLYOKE - Political newcomer Jon D. Lumbra Tuesday toppled the 21-year reign of City Treasurer David B. Donoghue, handing him a defeat with a 573-vote spread.

Lumbra garnered 4,118 votes to Donoghue's 3,545

I would like to thank everyone that has helped out during the last nine months to make this happen. It was an uphill battle but in the end all our hard work paid off. I look forward to the transition between Mr. Donoghue and myself and to severing the great City of Holyoke for the next four years.

Again thank you for everything you did and it will not be forgotten.

T-Minus 12 hours and counting till polls open, don't think I'll be sleeping tonight. Before we get carried away tomorrow with everything going on I just wanted to say thanks for all the support and getting us to this point. I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow night.

Teamsters Local 404 has endorsed my candidacy for City Treasurer. Last week by a unanimous vote of the Executive board the Teamsters joined the growing list of Unions to endorse my bid to be your next Treasurer.
