I posted the Canal Creature Crawl as an event for Halloween weekend. I hope some of you will want to make something .

Hi,
I want to make some scary canal creatures around the canal between heritage park and the canal walk for Halloween weekend We are working on getting permission and should know in a few days. Lets make a scary, mysterious and wonderful walk around the canal. Glowing, floating, hanging from trees, lurking creatures of all kinds. Dry ice making magical mist, etc. I hope you all want to join me. Think of it as a big temporary outdoor environment/art show!

Artist Organized Art is a site dedicated solely to the networking of artists. It is set up as a "social network" and a lot of it is designed as a "wiki", meaning you have quite a bit of control over your content (and others!). Best of all, it's based right here in the valley.

Hi, I like the idea of some business training, and networking with other small business people, craftsman, artists, builders etc. We can build an informal network of referrals and relationships.

Hi everyone-

I am just catching up with this thread.

As for a presence in the parade and canal creature, we have an artist in our building who built a huge blowup dragon in our garden for open studios last fall. that's her genre. i will send her an invite to join this group. her name is lees ruoff. so perhaps lees would want to also be involved. she is a holyoke resident and has her studio here.

also, we could create our own blog to use for profiles, posts, galleries etc. wordpress allows you to create unlimited pages - not just posts - and i could set it up and hand out contributor logins to all who wish to contribute, so everyone would be able to post. i am pretty used to the wordpress format/dashboard and find that it is fairly intuitive so i doubt anyone would have a hard time figuring it out. everyone could have their own page/gallery/etc.

Best-
Mo

i think the parade idea is fabulous, as is the energy of this group. i haven't contributed much but am offering my blog services as i would like to participate. I used to be afraid of lightning and parades, now i am mostly just afraid of meetings. ;-)

Hi Holyoke artists,
I think we should have a presence in the parade next year. What other event attracts so many people to Holyoke? I want to make a giant canal creature, kind of a relative of the canal monster, that bears a strong resemblance to the dinosaurs that left us the footprints. I got a book from the bread and puppet theater on building giant puppets. It could be like street theater. I'm planning to watch the parade this year to see if what I'm thinking could fit at all. If anyone is interested, let me know, it would be fun if there are a lot of us. Music too maybe? Dance?

Yes, my last post was also sarcasm.....sorry if I offended anyone
I don't get pop up's when I am logged in - only if I am trying to view the site not logged in - my work ( city of springfield) blocks just about everything, so it doesn't matter to me if we switch or not
It would be nice to see this group try and get a project together ( like the boarded up idea of daphne's) which I still think is a great idea.

I am using firefox and do not see the ads...I don't think..unless you are talking about Ning the site-it's name is plastered a few places, yes.
I know that CRUSH does intend on building a site at some point, free from Ning (or at least it has been discussed), because of the issues you state, Prono, but at this point I want to spend my time doing stuff not building websites.
I second the Octavia/Peter admin thing.
