Hi All
I haven't been able to contribute much this year but I wanted to know when your next meeting will be and that I've been making beaded jewelry this year as gifts and I thought maybe I could donate some for the raffle...Let me know your thoughts. :o)

The planing for this event is really going well! We have a location, a caterer, a DJ and decor. Good times. Tentative next meeting: Wed Dec 2 at 8:30, location TBD.

I know Aaron sent a meseg. asking where we should meet and/or if Sun. @ 4PM is good. Is there a verdict yet?

i was at the block party. really enjoyed myself. just was unable to perform. they slated me too early. i had a show in boston the night before and would've had to rush back. i definitely plan on being there tonight. i am excited to meet some of you who are involved in making this city work. peace and blessings

Toussaint, you should come to the first organizational meeting on October 4th.There is also a CRUSH event tonight that would be a great time to meet. I'm sorry you were not able to attend the Block Party, but I hope to meet you in person soon.

wow. it sounds like there are already some ideas about how this thing should go. i realize i am new to the area na dshould probably just let you all handle how you wanna do it. my suggestion stems from the fact that we (my band) are not booked for new year's just yet though there have been some talks and i thought it would be a good way to get to know the people of my hometown. if i can be of any help, then let me know. in the meantime is anybody in here well connected with the boys and girls club?

I think it would be a great idea of the first meeting of the NYE party planning group explored all possible options for this event. I know that is a long conversation, potentially, but as the Crush group is all about encouraging new members to participate I feel it is vital to allow new ideas inform how the events happen.
Last year we wanted to hold a large NYE party for all of Holyoke and the original location was the War Memorial downtown. We decided to have a smaller event at the Wistariahurst because the desire for a great party outweighed the ability to produce a large great party, and I think that decision met the needs at the time. A great party happened. But, having just produced a fabulous block party that was well-attended, *could* we possibly produce a more inclusive (read: less expensive) party on NYE for residents of Holyoke? Could we produce a more local-music-driven NYE event at some place like the War Memorial or maybe Open Square or another space in the mills? Could we produce two events?
I know I am dreaming big here--but I think it is important to have the conversation about what we want to do, especially when the overall make up of Crush is different than it was last year. Next year (hopefully) we will continue to attract new members who may or may not want to hold all types of events.
What seems to be a major money cost for the past NYE event is the food. Are we committed to spending the same amount in food for this year? Does that mean tickets have to be at least $35?
I know I am asking a lot of questions, and I am sorry that I can not make the first planning meeting. Maybe I can try to phone in from Canada.
