The chill is still here but we are hoping to broom clean the interior starting this May. Dust off your brooms, shovels and masks. a couple of hours on a Sat./sun will be our beginning schedule. More info when we have an actual date with the dumpster. Enjoy the spring.

I have to tell you it was a great experience helping out with what little time I could. I also snagged a few pictures which the others might enjoy

Good morning everyone. I want to thank you all who came to work at the theater in last few weeks. It was huge help to get some clues uncovered that answered some questions about the history of the building and generating drawings with dimensions and photographs, that would be used to make the investigation report more complete. And of cores the discovery of 'The Lady of Victory" was a great memorable moment. It is really getting cold in there and besides few things, I need to finish there by my self, thankfully the most work we could do for now is done. The next step is, I will be analyzing the samples of plaster with the colors on it at my studio and based on these results, I will create artistic renderings of the different renovations and the original look of the theater from 1919.
That is going to take some time and perhaps I will have some of these renderings done by the end of November.
Meanwhile what would be really helpful is to spend time in archives and search for any information available. Hey, archives are usually heated...perfect place to be when its "freeeeeeeezin" outside.
thanks again and perhaps dinner with volunteers is in order.....best regards
Vitek

If that's the case for this Saturday - when can we meet so I can get those ladders? I probably won't be able to get over before Sat, but any time during the morning or early afternoon, I can get there...Gimme a call Friday and I'll do the same if I don't hear back from ya! Glad they were there for you, sad I wasn't able to be! It's so utterly cool that those painting were found! Anyway, we'll talk soon!

Hi Bob and all
The ladders were hugely useful this past Wednesday. We uncovered Lady Victory and as you can see from the photos it was a stunning discovery.
At this point we are rethinking Saturday. We have largely accomplished the goal of documenting the Victory interior AND there is a lot else going on in Holyoke and the area. So we are likely not going to meet this Saturday but a final decision has not been made.

Hope those ladders are working out for you guys over there - are you still planning to be there this Saturday? I've told the rest of the world to go away from 10-4 so I can finally get in there and do SOMETHING, so please tell me it's still on! If not, I'll need to pick up those ladders by then anyway - they are being put away for the year on Sunday morning...

the winged sward symbolism in American history is usually symbol of US Air Force power. Also symbol of justice. I can see the people and investors behind the idea of building this theater closely watching the world events of their time and their sentiment during the WW1 and WW2
fascinating to put things in perspective.
