Profile Information

What is the talent/skill that you can bring to c.r.u.s.h.?
writer, amateur photographer, guitarist, Dad, husband, great interest in history, architecture, and the preservation/reuse of antique buildings, 22 years in the painting contracting business - I work hard and I consider myself a craftsman in my trade - I've learned many other skills in my time, including aspects of building ( framing, drywall, etc, etc) and I would love to be involved the rehabilitation of old places ( Victory Theater, hint hint...!) I believe in being honest and kind and I believe that society reflects what happens in the home - when families break down, so does society...
What is your favorite thing about Holyoke?
It's history and architecture, it's landscape - I've driven around town countless times, fascinated by the buildings, and my boys and I have enjoyed many hikes up at the reservoir/Mountain Park/Mt Tom area...This year, we also enjoyed the Parade for the first time!
What do you think are some of Holyoke's greatest attributes?
??? Not living there, I don't know Holyoke through it's people - hoping to change that here! I am there at least twice a week for band practice, and I used to work at one of the paper companies...It would be great to see industry return to the city to breathe life into it again...
What do you think are some of Holyoke's worst attributes?
Loss of industry and jobs - the downtown area is full of abandoned properties that could be rehabbed and reused, but there has to be a reason for them to be...Like my hometown of Springfield, joblessness and the breakdown of the family has brought a lot of trouble to the people and it would be nice if those jobs returned...
What are the top issues that Holyoke needs to focus on?
Retail Downtown, Green Industry, Neighborhood Cleanup, Safer Streets, Building Facades

Bob,
Welcome. Glad you could make it to the pixel club. We usually meet the first Friday of the month. But I think since its getting nicer out there will be more options to get together to explore the area. Me and my business partner are going to be offering work shops if you are interested in learning more about photography and picking up some new things. I saw your photographs of Parsons. Good stuff.
