I am a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Nutritionist and Yoga instructor.
What is your favorite thing about Holyoke?
It is where nature meets city. I love how it is flanked by both a mountain and a rive. The downtown is busting with potential. It reflects a time when art was a part of architecture.
What do you think are some of Holyoke's greatest attributes?
The canals, the factories, the mountain and historic districts. The spirit and creativity of the residents.
What do you think are some of Holyoke's worst attributes?
Absentee landlords. Lack of good paying jobs.
What are the top issues that Holyoke needs to focus on?
Restaurants, Retail Downtown, Green Industry, Neighborhood Cleanup, Community Space, Better Schools

Ward 7 Property Values / Quality of Life at risk w/ proposed zone change

Hi Fellow Holyoke Residents,

Many of you may have already heard about the recent proposed zone change on Mountain Park Access Road. A zone change from the current single family/agricultural to highway business could forever change the residential character of Ward 7.

This Tuesday night at 6:30pm at City Council Chambers in City Hall will be a public meeting of the Planning Board and (zoning) Ordinance Committee to discuss this matter.

Jackie.  TeamHolyoke has basically been superseded by CRUSH.  I think the best thing to do is to send a message to all of your "friends" as well as write a blog post about it AND create an event.
