The people, the unpretentiousness, the canals and mill district, the accessibility, and perhaps the most, the potential for Holyoke to be a dynamite city for the arts, media and future growth.
What do you think are some of Holyoke's greatest attributes?
It is currently unburdened by entrenched unchanging establishments. It has the infrastructure of people who are interested in changing it and a downtown and mill district ripe for change.
What do you think are some of Holyoke's worst attributes?
One-way streets, poor name recognition, lack of focus (currently being addressed), lack of coffee shops and restaurants. I was also a bit upset that walking down High St the other day there was dog droppings and garbage on and near the sidewalks. An effort needs to be done to keep the streets clean and respectful to allow people to want to come and visit us. Also advertising our resources better, like the amazing galleries and theater groups available.
What are the top issues that Holyoke needs to focus on?
Restaurants, Arts & Cultural Events, Retail Downtown, Green Industry, Neighborhood Cleanup, Pedestrian Friendly, Community Space, Communication Network, Inter-Generational Activity
