Thank you for the huge vote of confidence this Tuesday. I am truly honored to continue serving you on the People's City Council. I will remain your voice, your advocate and yes of course your fiscal watchdog. I am also very excited to be working along the side of Mayor Pluta, Treasurer Lumbra , Clerk Egan and my colleagues to lead our great city to its greatest potential. Jason Ferreira Thank You

I just want to thank everyone who helped out during my campaign. I learned a great deal, experienced new things and made many great friends. While it was a difficult loss, I take comfort in the fact that two new, bright, committed people in Aaron Vega and Brenna Murphy will be serving on the City Council. I know that they will serve the city well. I want to encourage everyone to get more involved in our city. Holyoke is on the rise and is going to need an active community to continue that direc… Continue

Jon Lumbra Election Day

Regardless of how you feel on the issues all registered voters need to vote tomorrow. Think of it, if 20,000 voters appeared at the polling stations to vote and only 10,000 voted for one office. The message that would ring loud and clear is only 50% of the voter turnout liked the options presented. Maybe then more folks would come forward and run ag… Continue

David Donoghue Elections Demand Disclosure

At a recent public debate my opponent, Jon Lumbra, acknowledged an incident in Bennington, Vermont, whereby public funds under his control were determined missing. My opponent refused to explain the incident, claiming the existence and protections of a confidentiality agreement. The Treasurer in the city of Holyoke manages an excess of $300 million dollars per year. My entire public record as Treasurer for the past 21 years and my personal life has been completely open to the public. It defies… Continue

David Donoghue The Case for my Candidacy

Dear Voter, Recently audits of the treasurer’s office identified the need to remedy several specified administrative functions within the office. While the areas referenced focus on a minor portion of my duties and responsibilities as Treasurer, the audits criticism has generated an enormous amount of negative press. Let me be clear in my response: I accept and acknowledge the criticism and I have worked hard to correct and resolve all the issues identified. This is only part of the story, how… Continue
