Holyoke's Social Network

made possible by Citizens for the Revitalization and Urban Success of Holyoke

At a recent public debate my opponent, Jon Lumbra, acknowledged an incident in Bennington, Vermont, whereby public funds under his control were determined missing. My opponent refused to explain the incident, claiming the existence and protections of a confidentiality agreement. The Treasurer in the city of Holyoke manages an excess of $300 million dollars per year. My entire public record as Treasurer for the past 21 years and my personal life has been completely open to the public.

It defies the integrity of the election process for a candidate to run for such a position of trust, acknowledge an issue involving missing public funds under his control while is a public position, and then fail to fully disclose the facts concerning the issue. Public officials in Bennington, Vermont have confirmed the incident whereby missing public funds under his control were repaid on his behalf. In light of all the recent scandals in the financial world, TRANSPARENCY and FULL DISCLOSURE are imperative!

I ask for your vote.

Thank you,

David Donoghue
City of Holyoke Treasurer

Your concerns are valid and I respect your opinion; I simply ask that the voters also consider the other side of the story. The fact is, my office has been understaffed for a few years now. I hope my many accomplishments as Treasurer will be a primary consideration for many voters. With respect to my record, I have hid from nothing, and take responsibility for it all. Thank you for your comment.

"My entire public record as Treasurer for the past 21 years and my personal life has been completely open to the public."

Did you happen to read it?. scholarships, lack of timely payments resulting in fees paid by us taxpayers, and on and on.

I would rather take a chance on someone that made a mistake once in their life, and has learned from it, as to someone who makes them over and over and over again
